Friday Is New Arrivals Day

A massive 79.3% of all issues were published on a Friday. The remaining 104 issues are scattered across the week — Monday was the rarest non-Friday day with only 7 issues ever.

Rock-Solid Biweekly Cadence

  • 75.1% of gaps fell in the 8–14 day range
  • The longest streak of consistent biweekly publishing was 64 consecutive issues without deviation
  • From roughly 2000 onward, they locked into 25–27 issues per year like clockwork

The Early Days Were Wilder

  • Issues #1–#9 (summer 1995) came out weekly — every 3–7 days
  • The 1997–1999 era had the most irregular gaps: multiple 45–73 day breaks
  • Longest drought: 73 days between #37 (Jul 27, 1996) and #38 (Oct 8, 1996)

The Golden Era

  • 2010 was the most prolific year with 29 issues (including the anomalous #346.5)
  • The densest 365-day window started at the very beginning — 34 issues in the first year, one every 10.7 days

Seasonal Rhythms

  • December was the quietest month (37 issues total) — even record store obsessives take holidays
  • July was the busiest month (47 issues) — summer listening season
